At the kiosk of every theater lies a choice that defines the evening. It is a minor, beautifully trivial debate that has played out for generations. Sweet or salty?

Rather than side with one classic protagonist, our master distiller chose to write a script where both could coexist. Each expression is built on the crisp, Mediterranean botanical base of our signature Dry Gin, layered with a distinct baseline of toasted popcorn.

  • The Sweet edition is guided by the nostalgic warmth of buttery popcorn and caramelised brown sugar. A delicate ribbon of Madagascar vanilla bean weaves through the botanicals, creating a smooth, beautifully balanced gin unlike anything you've experienced before.
  • The Salty edition delivers a rich, savoury depth. It coats the palate with a sophisticated wave of brown butter and fine sea salt, before opening up into the fragrant, nutty warmth of roasted almonds.

THE RETURN TO THE BIG SCREEN

This year, we flipped the script. Stepping away from folklore and distant regions, our master distiller chased the legends to a different kind of stage: the cinema. Yet, we didn't bottle the special effects on the screen, instead we looked to the kiosk, focusing on the oldest, most fiercely debated question in theatre history. Sweet or salty popcorn? Realising that like any great cinematic pairing, one cannot truly exist without its rival, we captured both sides of the coin.

For years, streaming platforms flooded our homes with a thin yet voluminous stream of content, pulling audiences apart across a thousand isolated screens. But recently, a beautiful defiance happened. Directors started reclaiming the grand canvas, exclusively and deliberately, for the stories that demand it. Whether experiencing the grand scale of Dune or the sweeping storytelling of The Odyssey, we are collectively remembering the unique power of a shared theatre experience.

That communal magic, the collective anticipation before the opening credits, is where the Illusionist belongs.

RECIPES

The Golden Ticket Sweet

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Illusionist Distiller’s Edition 2026 SWEET
  • Premium Tonic Water
  • Optional: Popping candy (e.g. Pop Rocks or "Knister-Granulat") for glass rim

Method:

Run a fresh lemon wedge along half the rim of a highball glass. Dip the wet edge into a shallow plate of the popping candy for a special crackling experience. Fill a highball glass with large ice cubes. Add the gin, top-up with tonic water.

Garnish: An orange zest or a vanilla stick.

Pairs well with: Hazelnut Mannerschnitten or Eiskonfekt.

The Water of Life Salty

Ingredients:

  • 60ml Illusionist Distiller’s Edition 2026 SALTY
  • 15ml Dry Vermouth (e.g. Belsazar or Dolin)
  • A dash of Orange Bitters (e.g. Angostura)

Method:

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir for 30 seconds until well-chilled. Strain into a martini glass.

Garnish: Rosemary sprig

Pairs Well With: Roasted peanuts, smoked almonds, or plain salted popcorn.

First Encounter Sweet

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Illusionist Distiller’s Edition 2026 SWEET
  • 80ml Oatly Popcorn Edition
  • 10ml Maple Syrup
  • Pinch of sea salt

Method:

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice. Shake hard for 15 seconds to build a cold, silky foam. Strain into a chilled coupe or tumbler glass.

Garnish: Dust with a pinch of cocoa powder or float two pieces of sweet popcorn on the foam.

Pairs well with: Dark chocolate or fresh sweet n’ salty popcorn!

Doomsday Salty

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Illusionist Distiller’s Edition 2026 SALTY
  • 25ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 15ml Simple Syrup
  • 2 dashes of Jalapeño Brine

Method:

Combine all ingredients with ice in shaker. Shake 15 seconds until well-chilled. Strain into a tumbler over a large ice cube.

Garnish: Pickled jalapeño.

Pairs Well With: Cheddar cheese & nachos.

Rainbow Road Sweet

Ingredients:

  • 35ml Illusionist Distiller’s Edition 2026 SWEET
  • 15ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 10ml Peach Syrup
  • Prosecco or Sparkling Wine

Method:

Combine the gin, lemon juice, and peach syrup with ice in a shaker. Shake until well-chilled. Strain into a champagne flute and top up with sparkling wine.

Garnish: A lemon zest.

Pairs well with: Chocolate-covered foam bananas (Schokobananen).

Cyclops Eye Salty

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Illusionist Distiller’s Edition 2026 SALTY
  • 15ml Fresh Lime Juice
  • Ginger Beer
  • A pinch of activated charcoal

Method:

Combine the gin, lime juice, and activated charcoal with ice in a shaker. Shake until well-chilled. Strain into a tumbler filled with crushed ice and top-up with ginger beer to taste.

Garnish: Black sea salt rim and a quail egg on a skewer (for the eye).

Pairs Well With: Freshly baked pretzels with salt.
